If you’ve ever made a Dubious Food in Breath of the Wild and wished it tasted better in real life, The Unofficial Legend of Zelda Cookbook is your answer. Three years in the making, this 300-page cookbook contains 195 real-world recipes inspired by the foods and elixirs of Hyrule.

What sets this apart from a typical themed cookbook is the dual approach: each recipe includes both real cooking instructions and an “in-game guide” that cites which Zelda game the dish comes from and how to find or make it in the game. It bridges the kitchen and the controller.

The recipes span the entire franchise, with 14 chapters covering everything from simple snacks to ambitious meals. Over 125 recipes are vegan-friendly and 150+ are gluten-free, so there’s something for every dietary need. The book was self-published by Aimee Wood and has earned a devoted following — there’s even a sequel funded on Kickstarter.

For parents: This is an excellent family activity book. Cooking together while connecting it to your child’s favorite game is a powerful bonding experience. The recipes are approachable, and the Zelda theming keeps kids engaged through the whole process. A great gift for birthdays or holidays.

For kids and teens: You know how cooking in BotW is basically the best part of the game? Now you can do it for real. The Monster Cake is surprisingly good.
